The Project Construction of a New 400kV Single Circuit Transmission Line SS Kragujevac 2 – SS Kraljevo 2 and extension of Substations Kragujevac 2 and Kraljevo 3 is part of the Transbalkan corridor.
Transbalkan corridor consists of the following infrastructure investment items in the first phase (till 2025):
- New double circuit 400 kV overhead line (OHL) between SS Pancevo 2 (Serbia) and SS Resita (Romania),
- New 400kV Single Circuit Transmission Line SS Kragujevac 2 – SS Kraljevo 2 and extension of Substations Kragujevac 2 and Kraljevo 3,
- Upgrade of transmission network in Western Serbia at 400 kV voltage level between SS Obrenovac and SS Bajina Basta (Serbia), which implies new double 400 kV OHL SS Obrenovac – SS Bajina Basta, reconstruction of existing SS Obrenovac and SS Bajina Basta
- New 400 kV interconnection between Serbia, Bosnia and Hercegovina and Montenegro, which implies double 400 kV OHL between SS Bajina Basta, SS Visegrad (BiH), SS Bistrica and SS Pljevlja (Montenegro).
Implementation of this project is a part of building a strong electricity transmission corridor between east and west Europe with the following main features:
- Transbalkan corridor represents a project which goal is strengthening of the important regional and panEuropean energy paths in directions from the northeast to the southwest and east to west.
- Realization of Transbalkan corridor is fully in line with three basic goals of EU energy policy:
- increasing of security of supply,
- integration of renewable generation and establishing internal electric energy market on the territory of Europe, and
- is accordingly recognized in ENTSO/E panEuropean TYNDP as well as in the appropriate Regional Investment Plan of ENTSO/E and supported by EC.
- All investment items of Transbalkan corridor project are marked by the Energy Community as being of the highest regional interest within the process of selection of the projects of interest for the Energy Community (PECI Projects of Energy Community Interest).
