Upgrading of the existing 220/110kV substation Kraljevo 3 to SS 400/220/110kV and extension of 400kV switchgear in 400/110kV SS Kraguevac 2 with new 400kV OHTL bay in order to connect both substations on 400kV level. The substations upgrading/extension and construction of the new 400kV transmission line SS Kragujevac 2- SS Kraljevo 3 connecting both substation on 400kV voltage level is one of elements of the transmission network which is planned to be built in the first stage of the transition of the 220kV transmission network in the Western Serbia to the voltage of 400kV. Connecting original 220/110kV Kraljevo 3 Substation to the 400kV system is increasing network efficiency and safety and it is improving operation of the 220kV transmission network from Bajina Bašta to Niš.
The project consists of the following components:
- Construction of a new 400kV single circuit transmission line between the substations Kragujevac 2 and Kraljevo 3;
- Extension of 220/110kV Kraljevo 3 Substation to 400/220/110kV;
- Extension of 400/110kV Kragujevac 2 Substation by one 400kV line feeder.

The three components will be implemented through two (2) lots:
- Lot 1: Overhead line: Construction of the new 59km long 400kV single-circuit overhead transmission line (OHTL) between SS Kragujevac 2 and SS Kraljevo 3.
- Lot 2: Substations: Extension of 220/110kV Kraljevo 3 Substation to 400/220/110kV and extension of 400/220/110kV Kragujevac 2 Substation by a 400kV bay.
Two lots were considered as the two separate tenders for construction works.
The lots will be implemented in accordance with different FIDIC conditions of contract, i.e.:
- Lot 1 (OHL) – FIDIC Pink book (Banks Harmonized Edition of the Conditions of Contract for Building and Engineering Works Designed by the Employer), MDB Harmonized Edition 2010,
- Lot 2 (SS) – FIDIC Yellow book (Conditions of Contract for Plant and Design-Build), First Edition 1999.
